Projects are made or lost in the edit suite. A great editor can grip it by the stones, bang it together, start a fire, hide all of the seams, and make a piece sing. A great editor knows how to solve problems in otherwise impossible scenarios (which happen with every project). I’ve been editing since 1994 (hard-cutting on VHS) and have surfed the wave of technology and talents as it has risen to a white-capped digital monstrous surge of high def file bloat and available everywhere formats. These talents include the rumored ancient skill of deck-to-deck tape editing, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and a pile full of troubleshooting tasks and software far too lengthy to list here. Seriously, it’s probably really boring video-film-nerd talk.
